Time is a premium
Or boy is it busy
Having started work as a support worker for people with additional needs it has become harder than ever to stick to something resembling a weekly schedule and still make art. Something has to give.
The newsletter is going to be officially fortnightly (roughly) from now which means I can keep up with plans for making art and keep writing about it too.
Anyway. To business. I've been wanting to have another go at lino printing. I'd tried it out a couple of years back with limited success but wanted to try again.
So as an anniversary present I got a very good book on the subject and some new tools and then for Father's day I got a Domestika course on lino printing. Domestika, fir those who don't know, do short creative courses on line. They are pretty good and fairly cheap. A lot are in Spanish so you have to read subtitles but they're very well done.
So the plan for the coming weekend is to document the start of this process. Refining an idea, checking out the book and course, and then sharing it all with you.
I decided I wanted to do a linoprint of a hair after encountering one on the roads nearby recently. My initial thought was for something like this.
But I changed my mind. This pose and the side on moongazing pose are the most common done by artists of all mediums.
So I went, instead, with this.
Over the next week I'll transfer this to lino and start the cutting. Hopefully I'll have prints to share next week.
Go make something
Pete

I love how much you love this Pete. 🤗
